Wahid Foundation

The Wahid Foundation emerged with a commitment to realising KH Abdurrahman Wahid’s intellectual vision of advancing Indonesian society and Islam, improving people’s welfare, building democracy and fundamental justice, and promoting peace without violence throughout the world. On a regional and global scale, the Wahid Foundation facilitates dialogue and understanding between Muslims and other religious and ethnic groups, including in the context of the Islamic world and the West. In Indonesia, the Wahid Foundation encourages the emergence of young thinkers and activists who have the potential to realise Gus Dur’s commitment and vision. Wahid Foundation organises educational activities for youth, develops the capacity of Muslim ulama in cross-religious, cultural and ethnic dialogue, and encourages them to play an active role in building economic prosperity, justice and good governance.
