It is often difficult to predict when a disaster will strike. All we can do besides understanding the risks and trying to prevent disasters is prepare ourselves in case one does strike. Since the 2004 Aceh tsunami, various initiatives have been undertaken to improve the capacity of all regions in Indonesia to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
The Government Regulation on Minimum Service Standards in 2018 regulates the Types and Quality of Basic Services that every Citizen is entitled to receive at a minimum, including the Minimum Service Standards for Disaster Sub-Affairs or MSS-DM.
