Partnership period: 2022
IDEP was established in 1999 in response to Indonesia’s severe financial and social crisis. Originating from discussions among Bali community groups, the organisation aimed to address the growing challenges faced by Indonesians. IDEP focused on facilitating NGO programs across Indonesia through ‘Training of Trainers’ in Permaculture Design, empowering organisations to help local communities achieve sustainable food, shelter, energy, and other needs. After the 2002 Bali bombings, IDEP recognised the importance of disaster preparedness and developed a Community-Based Disaster Management Handbook. Today, IDEP continues to innovate in permaculture and disaster risk reduction, promoting sustainability, transparency, and accountability.
The SIAP SIAGA Program is the Australia-Indonesia Partnership on Disaster Risk Management which aims to strengthen disaster resilience in Indonesia and the Indo-Pacific Region
