In 2020, SIAP SIAGA undertook research to better understand the processes of and challenges for government communication and decision-making related to disaster management. The overall finding was there was unclear consensus (in law) on who should be responsible for what: Where does planning need to be coordinated? Where does implementation need to be coordinated? And for both questions, how does this happen and who is involved at all stages of the disaster management cycle: preparedness, response, and recovery.

Roadmap Pengarusutamaan Gender (PUG) BNPB Book

This roadmap is dynamic and can be developed according to BNPB's needs. With the formulation of the Roadmap for Gender Mainstreaming in the BNPB Environment 2021-2024, it is hoped that BNPB can answer the challenges of carrying out its function in disaster management in a gender-equitable manner by trying to ensure the expected results and can be implemented sustainably within the BNPB environment.

In 2020, the SIAP SIAGA program commissioned several studies on the disaster management system in Indonesia with the aim of exploring the coherence of the system, including the conflicts and trade-offs between policies across key sectoral actors, clarity of roles and responsibilities for the implementation of disaster management services (both government and nongovernment actors), and assessing the impact these issues have on coordination for planning, budgeting and the quality of disaster management services (both government and nongovernment actors), and assessing the impact these issues have on coordination for planning, budgeting and the quality of disaster management services.
