JawaDwipa Expedition Result – Scientific Book version

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) initiated the documentation of the history of the earthquake and tsunami through the JawaDwipa Expedition with support from SIAP SIAGA. This expedition also documented and assessed the resilience of villages in facing the tsunami disaster which was carried out from June to August 2019. This scientific book was developed through various findings regarding local knowledge, collective memory and also past mitigation patterns found in East Java. This emphasizes how we can then create a disaster mitigation strategy that is in line with the historical, social, and cultural conditions that shape society’s growth and development by incorporating all of the local knowledge.
